Ayurvedic Treatment for Dandruff – Natural Home Remedies

1. Coconut oil and Lemon

Coconut oil and lemon juice are effective and excellent remedies to cure dandruff. Mix coconut oil and lemon juice in equal proportion and apply this mixture to your hair and leave it for about 20-30 minutes before washing your hair. Do this twice a week to get the best result. Citric acid and Vitamin C present in the lemon help to remove dandruff as well as avoid and cure any kind of fungal infection. Coconut oil on the other hand helps in the nourishment and moisturization of the dry scalp caused due to dandruff.

2. Yogurt and lemon

Yogurt is not only good for your health but also for your scalp and hair. Lactic acid present in the yogurt or curd helps to keep the scalp clean and also removes flaky dead skin cells whereas protein present in it nourishes your hair making it smooth and silky and also keeps your hair strong and healthy. Lemon being full of Vitamin C helps to prevent dandruff. The combination of yogurt and lemon juice forms an enzyme that helps to get rid of dandruff from the roots making your hair strong and healthy. Just mix 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and apply this mixture to your hair leaving it for about 30 minutes and then wash it off.

3. Aloe vera

Aloe vera has always been considered a boon for any type of problem. It is not only known to cure diseases but also is very effective for skin and hair. The anti-fungal property of Aloe vera helps to prevent dandruff and also keeps your scalp clean and healthy. Additionally, it provides nourishment to the scalp hence preventing dryness and itchiness thus maintaining the pH balance of the scalp. Extract some Aloe vera gel from the plant and apply the gel on the scalp. Leave it and let it dry for 30 minutes and then wash it off. You will notice the result within a week.

4. Baking Soda

Baking Soda (Sodium bicarbonate) is a very good exfoliator and thus helps to prevent dandruff. It has anti-fungal properties that remove flaky dead skin cells as well as restricts their further formation. Mix Baking Soda with water and apply this paste on the scalp part wise and leave it for a few minutes. 5. Neem

6. Multani Mitti

Multani Mitti also known as “Fuller Earth” is a wonderful remedy not only for the skin but also for the scalp. Multani Mitti helps to absorb all the dirt, dead skin, and excess oil from the scalp thus preventing dandruff formation. It deeply cleans your scalp and removes dead skin cells hence solving the problem of dandruff. Make a fine paste of Multani Mitti with some water, lemon juice, and honey and apply this paste on your scalp leaving it for about 15-20 minutes. Repeat the process twice a week and notice the result in just a few days.

7. Table Salt

Table salt is also an excellent remedy for dandruff. Just grab some table salt and massage your scalp in wet hair for some time. Wash your hair with a good shampoo once the massage is done. Table salt help to remove dead skin cells from your scalp deeply cleaning it.

8. Honey and Lemon

The combination of Honey and Lemon juice does wonders for your scalp. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with a teaspoon of lemon juice and gently apply this mixture to your scalp. Wash it off with cold water after some time. The humectant present in the honey keeps the scalp hydrated and its anti-fungal compound cures any fungal infection hence removing dandruff. The lemon on the other hand known for its Citric acid and Vitamin C helps to remove flaky dead skin cells thus diminishing the problem of dandruff.

9. Vinegar

Vinegar is one of the key ingredients that is easily available in the kitchen. It cures itchiness caused due to dandruff and dryness. Vinegar being acidic help to kill the fungus that causes dandruff and also removes dead skin cells. Mix Vinegar and water in equal proportion and apply it on your scalp. Wash it off after half an hour.

10. Onion

Onion juice is a blessing for your hair as it cures any kind of hair problem. The anti-fungal property of Onion juice helps to reduce the formation of dandruff and also avoids any kind of infections whereas the antioxidant property promotes hair growth. Soak some Onion juice with the help of a cotton ball and apply it on your scalp leaving it for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off.
