Being a bride is probably the only common dream we share with other girls. Every girl has a dream about her wedding; from the outfits to the location, we all have imagined it at least once in our life and no doubt the wedding is one of the most important days in the life of a person. Wedding is not a single day affair. The functions start way before the actual wedding day and can be tiring and exciting at the same time.
This wedding saga can last for days and covers many functions like mehndi, sangeet, cocktail and the wedding itself. It’s a week full of enjoyment and the bride to be should look her absolute best and stunning. We have provided below a list of outfits for each of the six main functions in order to help you look amazing on the most important day of your life and make it wonderful. Let’s dig in.
ENGAGEMENT OUTFIT
You can choose to stay classic or go a little modern. If you want to stay classic go ahead with a silk or chiffon sari and can drape it in any way you like. A gajra in your hair would help you achieve that classic Indian look. To play it modern , try the new trends like floor length anarkali or experiment with a jacket like sherwani salwar suit. Or even better you can go for an embellished gown with your hair either left open or in a bun. These outfits are best as they make you look subtle and effortless.
HALDI OUTFIT
This is one of the most funs and loved pre wedding function and is definitely my favourite. Many brides prefer to wear yellow on this function sticking with the colour of Haldi which is yellow.
We suggest that you wear a comfortable kurta or a salwar suit as during this function you have to apply haldi on yourself. Keep the outfit light but stick with the colour. Many brides even change into other outfits after this ritual is completed.
MEHENDI OUTFIT
Choose something light like a blouse and lehenga or even a simple kurti or an anarkali suit. Keep the look minimal and experiment with colours. You can either stick with pastels or can go with pop colours as per your choice. The use of floral accessories like maang tikka and haath tikka are in trend and make you look nothing less than a goddess. Way to go you natural beauty !
SANGEET OUTFIT
This by far is the most fun occasion and includes nonstop dance and music. Wear something trendy to catch everybody’s attention especially of your better half to be. Try either a sharara or a gown and you’re good to go. If you are one of those daring divas , try the layered suit which is too much in trend these days.
PHERAS OUTFIT
This is probably the most important outfit as the bride changes into something comfortable after wearing her heavy lehenga throughout the function. Velvet and dark shades are back in town. Stick with a classic red lehenga or a silk sari for pheras as you want to be comfortable. Pastels and wine shades are much in trend now and you can coordinate this outfit with the colour of your groom. Go for pleats and frills to add a dimension to your clothes.
RECEPTION OUTFIT
This is the first function where you make your first appearance as a married couple and hence it’s important. We suggest you wear a layered style lehenga on this day or you can fuse the classic lehenga with a jacket and be indo-western. If you want to play safe and sound then stick with stylish dark coloured lehenga choli or a salwar kameez in lehenga style. Keep the makeup according to your outfit and dance this night away ! After all , happy brides are the prettiest.
