It’s amazing how much shampoo and other soap products we see on television that promise us “healthy hair”! Let’s face it. There is no such thing as “healthy hair”. Hair is mostly made up of protein and keratin. Hair itself has no blood supply or nervous system. Hair is not alive, so it cannot be “healthy”. Because hair is an inanimate structure, it cannot be restored. Therefore, you should take proper care of them to maintain strength, elasticity and radiance. Some shampoos and conditioners claim to “repair damaged hair”. It is not possible to resurrect “dead” hair, no matter what the advertisement says. If the hair is damaged, the only way to “restore” it is to cut the damaged length. Just like your car needs service, your hair needs care.

How To Properly Care For Your Hair

If you have a problem with your hair, it’s best to talk to a trichologist, a hair and scalp therapist, right away. In other cases, you can follow our recommendations:

1. Hair dryers are gentle

Towel drying is one of the main causes of male hair damage. Guys like to take a towel and wipe their hair like crazy. The problem here is that when hair is wet, it’s very easy to damage it. “By rubbing hair with a towel, some hair is tangled in towel threads and stretched out, damaging the ends. To minimize towel-drying damage, shake off excess water and then rub the hair with a towel in the direction of hair growth. This may take a little longer, but it’s worth it. Remember that damaged hair cannot be repaired, but you can wait for new hair to grow instead of old hair (e.g., after 1-2 hairstyles). Hair dryer drying is also one of the main causes of hair damage. A hair dryer dries both hair and scalp. Men aren’t big fans of hair dryers, but if you need to use them, follow these tips: 1.To prevent damage to your hair due to a hair dryer, use special sprays and combs. This will make brushing easier and protect against thermal damage. 2.Make sure you keep your hair dryer 20-25 centimetres away from your hair and move it all over your head. This will protect your hair from heat. 3.Do not dry your hair completely. Leave them slightly damp. This will prevent dry hair from getting dry.

2. Use your hair brush carefully

When hair is wet, you can prevent damage by using a wide tooth comb or brush. This will limit the damage caused by a comb or brush pulling the hair.

3. Wash in slightly warm water

Very hot water dries hair and scalp. Do not use too hot water.

The first step in keeping your hair looking healthy is to keep your scalp healthy.

4. Avoid strong chemicals

Repeated hair coloring and mileage can damage your hair. Chemicals (such as ammonia) used in dyeing can be harmful to your hair and scalp. A good hairdresser or stylist knows how to take care of your hair and scalp. Ask him to choose the best product to protect your hair from damage.

5. Do not wash your hair too often

You can wash your hair every day if you use professional shampoos. Otherwise – not more often than once in 2 days. Professional shampoos are designed to apply softening agents, moisturizing creams and hair shaft protectors, which is not the case with cheap shampoos. In addition, hair can get used to being washed often, so it will be greased and dirty more quickly.

When you wash your hair, pay more attention to your scalp. It’s enough to wash your hair just by rinsing it in a shampoo.

6. Let the hair grow faster and stronger

Nourish yourself well, drink plenty of water, take vitamins, get enough sleep and live without stress – all this contributes to faster hair growth. Hair is a reflection of the health of the whole body.

A healthy diet is a guarantee of strong and healthy hair.

7. Avoid horseshoes and baseball caps

Try to avoid the “ponytail” or baseball cap fashion. Tightened hair can cause damage and loss of hair. Damage can become permanent if you continue to torture your hair.

10. Watch the pool water

The pool water contains chemicals that dry, damage and discolor hair. Minimize damage from chlorine and other chemicals by moisturizing hair with tap water before entering the pool. This will help prevent your hair from absorbing water from the pool. Another option is to use a special hair conditioner.

11. Taking care of straight hair

Wash long hair every 2 days with a soothing shampoo and conditioner. If you prefer a longer style of haircut, trim it every six weeks to remove split ends.

12. Taking care of thinning hair

Choose water-based products that do not leave a greasy residue and do not weigh your hair down, but provide volume and lightness. Strengthening shampoo and conditioner will help solve the problem of thinning hair. Cut your hair short, flatten your tips and your hair will grow stronger. Try not to leave your hair long as it will look thin and liquid.

13. Taking care of wavy hair

To minimize excessive volume, use a hydrating product and dense conditioner to add weight to your hair. A mid-length haircut will look great. For styling, add oil-based products that add shine and weight.

14. Taking care of curly hair

The structure of curly hair can prevent natural oils from reaching the ends of the hair. Use a moisturizing cream to keep your hair soft. Choose short haircuts that keep your hair tidy. Longer styles should be laid out in layers to reduce volume. Hair should not be washed more than a day later with a good conditioner. It will help to add extra humidity.
